The first volume of Asimov's saga, which won the Hugo Award for Best All-Time Novel Series. The ostensible task of Foundation, a group of savants established by Seldon on the remote planet Terminus, is to compile the "Encyclopedia Galactica", a complete account of human knowledge.

Foundation is the first novel in the original Foundation saga. It is absolutely amazing and shows what a truly gifted person Isaac Asimov is. It is so enthralling and the ideas presented in the book by Isaac Asimov is truly even centuries ahead from this day and age. Absolutely brilliant and completely recommended to anyone who likes Science Fiction novels. Outstanding!!!

Isaac Asimov's FOUNDATION is an excellently written piece of literature, combining pure science fiction with historical facts and philosophical ideas. A superb example of "ahead of their time" writing that you cannot put down.

The greatest science fiction saga ever written starts here

| | See all BluthInc's reviews (18)

Isaac Asimov is arguably the greatest science fiction writer of all time, and this book is the first chapter of his masterpiece. Set in the same universe as his series of robot novels, this story begins in the distant future, where humans have colonised planets throughout the galaxy, all linked by a giant Galactic Empire.

The problem is that the Empire is crumbling. This has been forseen by a scientist named Hari Seldon, who has worked out a mathematical formula to predict the future. "Psychohistory" is born here, and could save humanity from 30,000 years of chaos throughout the galaxy.... by forming "The Foundation".

alongside robert heinlein, robert silverberg,ae van vogt, etc no other hard core s.f. writer has distinguished himself like asimov.these are the authors from science fictions golden age.asimov`s visions.ideas and concepts are among some of s.f.`s greatest and his writing is still to this day some of the best ever done in the s.f. field, this novel is unique in its ideas and scope.the first book in an amazing trilogy.

 A benchmark for the Genre

The Foundation series is untouched in the Science Fiction Genre. The epic, millenium- spanning story of the rise of an empire makes for compelling reading.
