This novel begins five years after the end of "Return of the Jedi". The Rebel Alliance has destroyed the Death Star, defeated Darth Vader and the Emperor, and driven the remnants of the old Imperial Starfleet back into barely a quarter of the territory that they once controlled.

 Fantastic!

Star Wars: Heir to the Empire is both a fantastic sequel and a great beginning to a new trilogy.

Author Timothy Zahn has captured the characters, sense of adventure and galactic madness from the original trilogy very well.

Heir to the Empire is a great story and a very good read.

A brilliant start to a fantastic trilogy

Anyone who loves the Star Wars movies and is looking for the same in original novels will absolutely love Heir to the Empire, the first book in a brilliant trilogy by legendary author Timothy Zahn. It has all the elements that made the films so great, with a fantastic storyline along with extending the characters of Han, Luke and Leia, as well as introducing some great new ones. An absolute must for fans looking for more!

Heir to the Star Wars Legacy

This, for fans of the Expanded Universe, is where it all began. At the age of 12, a typical Star Wars fan-cum-geek, I bought this with my pocket money, and have never looked back. Were it not for the success of this novel and the following two installments from Zahn, there would probably have never been the number of novels in print today, and who knows...maybe the demand for the sequels would never have been there. Anyone looking to buy there first Star Wars novel, outside of the film tie-ins, should start here...trust me, you'll not be disappointed.
