This is the first book of The lord of the rings series. Possibly maybe the better of the 4 ! I read it when i was 15 now im 16 and my younger brother read and he is 12 and he said its his favourite book. Yes the chapters are 40 or more pages long but they explain the chracters you get to know well in the LOTR. I finished this within 3 days and my younger brother it took him 1 week.
Amazing !! Just cant wait for the film!!
Must buy for JRR Tolkein fans
Amazing 10/10
I remember this book being read to me at a very young age and it thrilled me every time. To hear of the rolling hills of the Shire, the House of Elrond and the eventful trip through Mirkwood was to live the adventure with Bilbo and the dwarves.
And every few years I take up the book myself and rediscover those familiar tracks, and occasionally find something I missed or didn't understand before which rekindles the Took-ish curiosity which has a place in all of us somewhere.
This is a book I've been meaning to read for ages, especially after being a fan of the Lord of the Rings movies. As I was reading this, it made me wish I had loved to read as a child, as I would have totally loved this book back then too.
I'm currently trying to get my 10 year old son to read it, but sadly like I was at his age, he doesn't want to read. Hmmm.
Anyway, I totally loved this book, it was better than I thought it would be. It was an exciting read and very enjoyable. It wasn't long until I was lost within the pages and hooked. I've not read much in the way of fantasy fiction, and if I can find more books like this then I'd be hooked.
Now I have to read The Lord of the Rings series!
