'This is a story of friendship with the cleverest of plot twists, and descriptions so vivid you can feel the heat of Stanley's desert prison burning off the page. A total must-read' The Times 'Totally absorbing and beautifully written' The Bookseller

I read this book years ago at school and really enjoyed it. The characters are likeable and the story is very good. Also i suggest the dvd of holes, alot of times a film is a lt down if you have read the book, however the film holes is brilliant and a must buy.

brilliant book, written simply - so it's really easy to understand.
Does not take long to read at all - it took me less than a day to read the whole book! The chapters are very small, around four pages each in average...
Characters are great and the ending is good!
I can't wait to read the next book.
A popular choice by english teachers at school.

I came across this story at the age of 17, I became obsessed. Why didn't my school have this as a read!! It's this book that made me become such a great fan of Louis Sacher, now at 21 Im still caught reading this book as it will always travel though my life with me..fantastic storyline, it was well thought of, I was personally impressed.

Holes is about a young lad called Stanley who is always in the wrong place at the wrong time and consequently gets sent to a boot camp for a crime he did not commit. At camp Green Lake, Stanley gets to dig holes. Lots of holes.

I liked this book but couldn't say it comes in my top 20 of favourites. It'd be a good book for a teenager, and after all that is who it is aimed at.
