Newly orphaned Mary Yellan goes to live with her Aunt Patience and uncle Joss Merlyn at Jamaica Inn, however, the inn has many terrible secrets and Mary's battles with Joss and her affection for his younger brother Jem make this a book that is impossible to put down. With its dark tales of Cornish smuggling, fascinating characters and the setting of wild moors the story is a thrilling ride.
