If, like me, you had grown up watching the film and wondered about the souce material, you won't be disappointed. The book contains many differences and thrills that make it a unique experience. It's clever, exciting and unrelenting.
Having seen the film several times,i thought i'd finally get around to reading the book. So glad i did.
From a few pages in,i was hooked, great story telling with moments that were a bit too brutal to put into the film.
Some people may not get into it,but i loved it and was actually a bit sorry when it was over.
Okay, now and again it drags slightly with science talk and that, but all in all it's a truely great read, that in my opinion is different enough from the film to be worthwhile reading. If tempted,go for it.
This Book is just amazing, ever since I read it the first time I was hooked on Michael Crichton, I just love the way he blends Fact and Fiction, I could read this book again and again, Pick it up and you will not be able to put it down, It is truly one of thee best books ever.
Ill start off by saying that i dont read books, i have never in my life found an interest in books, ive been forced to read as a child but i always found myself reading a paragraph and thinking about something totally different and having to start again. For some reason i decided to flick through the first few pages of this book as i loved the movie, i can now honestly say, for the first time in my life i am reading a book that actually makes me feel part of the story, im glued to this book and i dont want it to end. This guy is an amazing story teller and i would recomend this book to anyone who loved the film, dinosaurs or the auther. Amazing! Please buy this book!
While i did enjoy the movie do not judge the book based on your opinion of the movie.
This is not blockbuster fiction and the movie only uses a small portion of the more superficial part of the book.
This is crichton at his best mixing scientific thought experiments with suspense and action. I always considered his work to be a very high level of edutainment.
If you're a fan of the movie then I highly suggest you buy this, I know it sounds cliche but the book really is so much better than the movie. That's high praise considering how good the movie adaptation actually is. Once the action starts it fails to let up for even a moment, the encounters with the Dinosaurs are so thrilling and much more entertaining than the encounters in the movies, not to mention quite different. The way Crichton writes this makes it all seem so real, the pacing and quality of the storytelling is sublime, I couldn't stop turning the pages. This really is a modern masterpiece and I urge anyone who enjoys books to pick this one up. Don't think; I've seen the movie, why bother? You'd be cheating yourself out of a great adventure.
