When a teenage quarrel explodes into a deadly shoot-out, Sara Linton - the town's paediatrician and medical examiner - finds herself entangled in a terrible tragedy. What seemed at first to be a horrific but individual catastrophe proves to have wider implications. The autopsy reveals evidence of long term - abuse, of ritualistic self-mutilation.

This book was absolutely incredible. It hooks you in straight away with a gore-fest, then continues twisting and turning all the way through. I have read all of the "Heartsdale" books by Karin Slaughter, they are all very unpredictable. I think Kisscut is the best of them all, followed closely by "Faithless." I love the way she carries on the character storylines so you feel like you know them.

 fantastic, dark and brooding

From start to finish this book grips you and leaves you guessing. It starts with a shocking crime scene and the revelations throughout the book as to why this happened just keep on coming. Some off the subject matter is as dark and horrific as you can imagine, but it only enhances the story. The descriptions of the emotions the charachters are experiencing when confronted with these crimes are brilliantly written, and makes you wonder how the author could be so insightful. Towards the end the story takes more truly shocking turns, and doesn't really end as you would expect it to. Brilliant
