Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a fully-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits, and along with Rukia, who is slowly regaining her powers, it's Ichigo's job to both protect the innocent from Hollows and to help the spirits themselves find peace.

Great manga

I haven't been reading manga for that long. But, up until now I've only read Shonen Jump Advanced manga like Death Note, D Gray Man and Ral Grad. I knew Bleach is one of the most popular manga around, but I got the feeling that as it wasn't 'Advanced', it wouldn't be as good.
Big Mistsake.
This is a brilliant manga and as involving and intriguing as any 'Advanced' manga. The artwork is great and really detailed. The story is also very interesting and I am looking forward to getting more volumes to see how Ichigo copes with his new powers.
My favourite thing in this manga is the Hollows. They're really well designed and actually pretty creepy.
Highly recommended, a great read worthy of any manga fan's collection:)
After the anime

I bought this AFTER watching the anime, although watching in my opinion is better due to the sound, colours and movement, reading the manga was still really good, apparently the anime divulges from the manga which i can't say without having spoilers but these are the parts i am really most interested in, though i haven't met any in this volume. Really good manga, though don't forget the anime.
Just because it's different doesn't mean it's bad!

I think it's obvious that if you are a bleach fan, you should own a copy of the book by now. If you don't then get it now. The stories are slighty different but mostly better, and the art is fantastic. if you're reading this book in a public place e.g a bus, library etc, you're gonna have to deal with people looking at you thinking why is that idiot reading backwards. It's a quid cheaper than in shops so here is the place to buy it now!
