Review

Bridging the gap between the original film and its sequel to be released in 2007, 28 Days Later: The Aftermath tells the story of one of the last bands of un-infected humans in London, desperately trying to survive in the midst of the Rage virus. 28 Days Later was merely the beginning of the end. Two idealistic scientists unwittingly developing the deadliest virus the world has ever known! A family making desperate choices as they struggle to survive the Infection's initial outbreak! A lone gunslinging survivor battling the Infected in a decimated London! Four original tales chronicling the greatest horror humanity has ever faced come together in a bloody conclusion as terrifying as the Rage Virus itself. Will humanity's salvation come in the form of a rescue, or an over-zealous American army determined to eliminate anything left alive? Written by horror master Steve Niles (creator of the classic 30 Days of Night) and illustrated by three of the most terrifyingly talented illustrators working in comics today, 28 Days Later: The Aftermath begins before the hit movie-and ends with a shocking revelation that leads into the events of the sequel, 28 Weeks Later.

This graphic novel provides an account as to how the Rage virus came to be, its release into the wild and the devastation that followed. It is split into 4 short stories, each charting the different stages and forming a running timeline. The artwork is great, but I found each story too short. It seemed as though you were only just getting to know the characters, and then the story ends. This will appeal to fans of this graphic novel genre and the films. It would be nice if a sequel novel was in the pipeline, but for now I'll stick with Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead series.

Buy this graphic novel!
Quite short being a graphic novel but the artwork is beautifully drawn and very gory and tells us how the rage virus came about. Very good backstory, situations and great likeable if very stereotypical characters. Nice companion piece to the original and 28 weeks later!
