Top 100 Books Reviewer

It's true that anyone who owns a dog will find this book a comforting read. Its slightly different from the film, including more memories of the pesky pup including its stint as an actor himself! I really loved the book and the film, but to be fair they are both brilliant in different ways. I would reccommend this book to anyone, not just dog lovers as it goes into the life of the family as it grows. At times its very personal but John Grogan is a brilliant writer and he hasn't skimped on the truth, I think thats what makes this book such a delight to read.

I've had this book a while and with the upcoming film I decided to bump it up my to read pile and got stuck in. Anyone who has ever had a dog will laugh and completely understand what the 2 main characters have to put up with. Its a very moving story about a young family and their dog. All the highs and lows of owning a dog are written here. The desctruction to your home and the disgusting habits they have to the loyalty and unconditional love that a dog gives are very well written. You will laugh and you will cry and memories of dogs loved and lost will resurface, Im 25 and was blubbing like a baby at the end. All in all a great book and a must read for any dog owners.

What an absolute fantastic book, it had me laughing out loud throughout and sobbing at the end, it brought so many memories of my own dog and especially my sisters which was a lab x. Do not buy or read anything else until you have read this. Fantastic

I loved this book. I am not even a dog owner and found so many parts of this book so funny. I had heard that the book does get sad towards the end as you can imagine, and i rather stupidly thought i would be ok. By the end of the book i was a complete wreck, the first time a book has ever made me cry, you get so attached to the dog. It is tough, but what is great is that before you know it something has been written that makes you laugh again. I think that not just every dog owner should read this, but every animal lover too.I am sure you could relate to so many of the stories being told.It is a real rollercoaster of emotions but completely worth the read.

I sat down to read this book in my 'quiet' reading corner and couldn't stop laughing aloud. I had to put the book down when I got to the part where Marley goes to Obedience Training because I was laughing so much my eyes were running. My husband and my two dogs wondered what was happening as I just couldn't read for laughing. Although it is obviously very sad at the end - and yes I did cry - this book is an absolute joy and I would recommend it to anyone who is a dog lover. John Grogan makes you feel that you are there experiencing life with Marley. Wonderfully written. Can't wait for the film and hope that it does justice to the book.

Seen this book around for a while before I decided to buy it and Im so glad I did. It is without a doubt the funniest book I have ever read. Some of the stories in fact had me howling hysterically at 4am when I was trying to be quiet, so much so that I had to put the book down for 5 minutes!
Whether you have pets or not you will laugh and cry along with Marleys antics and sympathise with the owners. The ending was really lovely although very sad when John comes to realise just how much Marley meant to him.
Can't rate this book any higher than 5 stars but I would. Don't miss the opportunity to read the best book of the noughties by far.
