Omens, signs and portents - surely it's not the end of the world? Or is it... Mercurio the Magnificent? Mercurio the Rubbish, more like - and his name isn't even Mercurio. Oswald's dad is a fake fortune teller and when he predicts utter disaster, Oswald doesn't believe a word of it. But on the mysterious island of Idlegreen, there's definitely something strange going on - and a new star in the sky is coming closer every day... It's Angela Carter for kids - perfect for fans of Diana Wynne Jones.

I enjoyed this tale of Oswald and his Dad, from the first page I wanted to know more about these characters, what would happen to them.As the book progresses we meet more people, some very strange, but all well rounded and from there on in the story carries you with it.I would recommend this to all ages as something truly original and intriuging.
Fantastic

I read this book a couple of weeks ago, and to be quite honest, I couldn't put it down. It grips your imagination from the off and doesn't let go until the end. Definately a fantastic buy.

There's a new star in the sky over Idlegreen and why do the clocks have thirteen dials.
Although it took me a while to get into this book the further I delved into the pages the more hooked I became I just couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book, it's both original and enjoyable.
