I've held off writing this review, as with all diets the first couple of weeks are always the easiest, will power is at a high, you're determined you're going to lose those pounds, you stick to it 100%... and then, the novelty wears off, you have that slice of cake, you're tempted by that chocolate bar, by that pudding.. and before you know it, you've put all the weight back on.

I bought this book from Play and cannot rate it highly enough. It is so different from any other diet i've ever tried. Firstly you're not counting calories, or 'points', all you're doing is eliminating carbs from your diet. Which is easier than you may think. Eating out is easy, packed lunch is easy, dinner is easy, you can even drink alcohol... and still lose weight.

The science behind the book completely make sense, your body enters 'Ketosis' whereby you start burning fat rather than sugar. I didn't weigh myself for the first 2 weeks as I didn't want to be disappointed and therefore become despondent. The author recognises this and encourages you to go by how your clothes feel and how your body feels. How right he is. By the end of 2 weeks I was back in my size 12 jeans and a month on I have lost nearly a stone. I will weigh myself fortnightly going forward and hope to lose 2 stone by the summer.

I did a lot of research about this diet and the science behind it before I started it as I have always been sceptical about 'faddy' diets, I would encourage people to do the same. The diet DOES work & aside from the weight loss I feel less sluggish than I used to, I wake up earlier in the morning, I have less mood swings and fewer highs and lows. My appetite has shrunk quite noticeably & I always eat big meals to ensure I don't get hungry mid morning or afternoon. What I found most interesting was that when I am hungry, it's a proper rumble in my stomach, a 'proper' hunger, rather than a sugar-low, that 'oh my goodness i need sugar' weak feeling that carbs & sugar generate.

I don't crave sweet things anymore and I find myself saying no to puddings, cakes & sweets even if they're put right in front of me. I have ZERO will power usually, so this is really something for me to be able to write this.

This is less of a diet and more of a way of life. I, for one, will never go back to the way I used to eat.
