AROUND ABOUT A THIRD OF IT IS BORING

Top 100 Music Reviewer

I so very nearly gave up on this and can understand why so many did just that. To start with a we have a young boy taking an interst in religion and deciding what to believe in,eventually going for three religions, baffling his elders. To me,this was really dull even if it is making a point,as for convincing people there is a god, hardly.
So if you can sit through a load of boring chatter about relions and other stuff that mightn't grab you,you do eventually get to the story of his ship sinking and finding himself of a lifeboat with some animals. Fom here on,things are far more intersting, but he does waffle on a bit, okay,a lot.
The survival part of this story is very interesting and sometimes amusing in it's own way, just like the end which humoured me as he's telling his tale.
As for the boast that this story will have you believing in god,i really don't see how,i still have an open mind to it all but wouldn't consider myself a believer,so those that start out having no belief are hardly likely to change their mind over a story of weird circumstances. Some of this story i did enjoy and i'm glad it isn't too long, but as for all the praise, sorry, but i just don't get it. It eventually becomes a good read, but it isn't one i'd recommend,a large reason for that is because too much of it bored me,but that could be my fault for not being into religion and thinking this would keep me gripped. I'm sort of glad i read it,but it's one of those much hyped books that disappointed me.
