Comment: This book is in good or better condition. It has no tears to the pages and no pages will be missing from the book. The spine of the book is still in great condition and the front cover is generally unmarked. It has signs of previous use but overall is in really nice, tight condition. Shipping is normally same day from our UK warehouse. We offer a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.

In today's world no self-respecting English-language enthusiast could have failed to notice the frequent and flagrant abuse of our native tongue by pesky foreigners? (Forgetting, for a moment, the fact that many nations speak our language better than we do.) "Lost in Translation" features hundreds of genuine, original and utterly ridiculous examples of the misadventures in English discovered all over the world by the author and his intrepid team of researchers. Everything from hotel signs to baffling advertisements, such as the German beauty product offering a 'Cream shower for pretentious skin' or the Japanese bar that boasts 'Special cocktails for ladies with nuts', or the French warning at a swimming pool - 'Swimming is forbidden in the absence of the saviour.' Published in paperback for the first time this autumn, "Lost in Translation" demonstrates how widely the English language has travelled, though unfortunately some of it seems to have got a bit scrambled en route.

This book made me ache, and cry with laughter... so much so, my wife made me take it to work, as she couldn't sleep with me shaking and laughing away... And so I continued to split my sides, cry and shake with laughter at work, pouring tears of laughter onto reports and computer bits... so my manager made me take it home.

So here I am, a man with a hilarious book and no-where to read it. I think It'll have to wait till the summer holidays and I'm in one of the quoted lands, and I'll just laugh all the more!

A fabulous and an excellent companion for any traveler (armchair or otherwise) or Bill Bryson fan.
