By examining the true story of Chris McCandless, a young man, who in 1992 walked deep into the Alaskan wilderness and whose SOS note and emaciated corpse were found four months later, internationally bestselling author Jon Krakauer explores the obsession which leads some people to explore the outer limits of self, leave civilization behind and seek enlightenment through solitude and contact with nature. "An astonishingly gifted writer: his account of 'Alex Supertramp' is powerfully dramatic, eliciting sympathy for both the idealistic, anti-consumerist boy - and his parents" - "Guardian". "A compelling tale of tragic idealism" - "The Times".

A great read and outstanding courage of the man Christopher McCandless AKA "Alexander Supertramp". I understand he went "Into The WIld" not properly prepared, however I feel he sort of knew this, however wanted to test his strength.
A great story... The DVD is awesome too!!!

'Into The Wild' is a truly inspiring book, about a man who you either admire or loathe. Chris McCandless is now well known (mainly thanks to this book and the film) for been the boy who went un-prepared into the outback of Alaska to try and change his life. This book takes you on an intimate journey, with interviews with all of his friends he met along the way, and a more detailed look at just what makes a young man take on these kind of adventures (by also telling stories of other adventurers) this book should be top of your list
Great film

Listening to Foo Fighters sing "...there goes my hero" as I saw this
This guy is who I want to be, he had the balls to drop everything that wasn't important to him (a lucrative career and comfortable life by anyone's standard) and chase his dream
Good to know people like him still exist in this day and age, god knows we could use a few more heroes
