This book was good and really enthralling towards the end.
However, at the beginning its hard to get into but once the events unfold, you began to sympathise with Joseph and therefore become interested.
Mediocre book - some bits are superb and some aren't, but at £3.99 you really can't go wrong.
Haunting and Captivating

This was a brilliant read - impossible to put down. It could have been a really depressing book thanks to the subject matter and the fact that the main character doesnt have much happiness but the author manages to make it a great read. Did leave me haunted for a while afterwards but I think the secret of a good book is that you don't just forget about it once you've read the last page.
Haunting, captivating and well worth reading

I must be honest and say I struggled with the first chapter but after that I didn't want to put it down. It's a story full of tragedy and murder but somehow isn't depressing or overlly dark. You think you know the plot early on - but you need to keep reading to find out if you're right. Maybe you will be - but I wasn't!
Fab!

An excellent read. It left you guessing until the last couple of pages. I have never been let down by Richard and Judy's choices. They do a good job of choosing great books. Highly recommended!
Excellent!!

I loved this book, I thought it was just so well written, the imagery was amazing and I really felt the agony of the main character with every misfortune he encountered.I had predicted the ending from fairly early on but that definitely didnt hinder my enjoyment of the book and I couldnt put it down.
Ok but nothing special

I expected great things from this book as it is in the Richard and Judy book club unfortunately I was disappointed. It was an OK read but came to nothing and I felt was quite dull and when bits appeared that gripped me I was soon let down again. The ending was also boring.
Fantastic.

I am trying books that have been in Richard and Judy's book club, this is the best so far. A very clever and rewarding read. I would be happy to recommend this book to anyone.

Took me a while to finnish this novel, due to the fact that i found it so dull, i had to put it down and return a few days later. It was so bad i kept hoping it would end sooner rather than later, when i did reach the end , it did in fact just end and left me feeling nothing . Thouroughly dissapointed despite the rave reviews.

A refreshing spin on the serial killer novel, The book focuses on Joseph Vaughan whose life is irrecoverably changed when a child killer cuts a swathe of terror through his home town of Augusta Falls in Alabama. When the killings pile up over the years, Joseph and his friends form a gang called "The Guardians" who take an oath to protect
the children of the town. However the killer evades them and the killings continue, Leaving Joseph to live a life dogged by tragedy and of guilt, Feeling personally responsible for the murders of the little girls of Augusta Falls. ...Angels is a utterly riveting book, And since it's a book set between 1939 and 2005 in Alabama and New York it positively hums with authenticity and features believable charchters. An impressive feat since it was written by some english dude from Birmingham. The most unexpected thing about this book however is a deeply involving, Sometimes very funny and heartfelt love story between a 19 year old Joseph and his former Teacher Alexandra Webber. It's the beating heart of the book that prevents it from being an all out misery fest. Highly recommended.
