'Buy my stepfather's ghost' read the e-mail. So Jude did. He bought it, in the shape of the dead man's suit, delivered in a heart-shaped box, because he wanted it: because his fans ate up that kind of story. It was perfect for his collection: the genuine skulls and the bones, the real honest-to-God snuff movie, the occult books and all the rest of the paraphanalia that goes along with his kind of hard/goth rock. But the rest of his collection doesn't make the house feel cold. The bones don't make the dogs bark; the movie doesn't make Jude feel as if he's being watched. And none of the artefacts bring a vengeful old ghost with black scribbles over his eyes out of the shadows to chase Jude out of his home, and make him run for his life ...

I absolutly loved this book. I took it on holiday with me to Corfu and it honestly scared the hell out of me. I thought it was cold, scary yet the love between the characters was so real. I was a little dissapointed with the end but who cares the book was an amazing read... I can't wait to read it again!!!
fantastic read

I bought and read this novel summer 07, it was a debut novel and to be honest I wasn't expecting too much at all, but I soon became hooked. The pace is fast, it is a ghost story with a difference, I love ghost stories and honestly believe that there just aren't enough good ghost stories written these days. Try It, it is an easy read, perfect for the beach. I am looking out for Joe Hills follow up novel, another great book to read if you enjoy ghosty things is the Ghosts of Sleath and James Herberts latest offering, the title of which escapes me, oh yes Crickley Hall - fantastic is all I can say!!!
