This has to be one of the best books I have ever read without any doubt in my mind. I saw a review in a free paper on the tube, got it on a whim & had finished it within a week, which is quite an accomplishment for a 'non' reader.

It follows James' journey from the time he wakes up on an airplane covered in vomit & blood to his adventures (if you can call them that) in rehab.

It made me wince with absolute horror, it made me laugh out loud & it made my eyes fill, all quite embarassing on public transport - oh well - que cera..

It is brutally honest & graphic in parts, both uplifting & tragic. It is just written beautifully & although parts are difficult to read, it is not the writing that makes it that way, more the subject. If every book was written this well I would most definitely be a reader!

Quite possibly the best book I have ever read. I laughed, cried and was hooked from start to finish. Couldn't put it down, and was gutted when I finished it! This book portrays honest raw emotion that is thoroughly gripping.

This is James Frey's autobiographical account of his intense trials and tribulations whilst assigned to an American alcohol and drug dependancy rehabilitation centre. This book is not for the faint hearted. James is candid about his dependancy, and makes his physical symptoms of withdrawal and his mental struggles with avoiding further temptation very tangible. A further challenge was having to 'outwit' and 'meet the match' of the physical might of those 'residents who had taken an 'instant dislike' to James himself'. Jame's episodes of 'hope' of freedom from dependacy and subsequent personal emancipation came from the most unexpected quaters.. !
This should be read by non-addicts and addicts alike. We can all learn from this book and those who may feel the need it be... may be inspired by it.

This was such a moving book. I have to confess I'm a huge chick flick reader but this book was so moving I couldn't put it down. It's an eye opening book into the life of an addict and this book really made me see things differently. A good book for anyone to read.

I have honestly nothing to say about this book but wow.
I have read alot of books in my time, and never have I come accross a book so vibrant, and deep as this one. James Frey draws you so far into the story that you actually feel like your the one reading your own adventure in life.
If your looking for a book you can put down, but can't wait to read again. This is the book for you. Wonderfully compelling.
A must have!
