The world's most powerful people have gathered in St Patrick's Cathedral, New York, to mourn the unexpected death of a former first lady. Then suddenly they find themselves trapped within one man's brilliant and ruthless scheme. Detective Michael Bennett - father of ten - is pulled in to the fray. But as the danger escalates, Michael is hit with devastating news - his beloved wife has lost her battle against cancer. Grief-stricken, he has no choice but to carry on and try to save the 34 hostages - and raise his ten children. With the entire world watching and the tension boiling to a searing heat, Bennett must face the most ruthless man he has ever dealt with - or face for the greatest debacle in history.

Michael Bennett has become one of my favourite characters by Jame Patterson. It is one the best i've read so far. It's gripping from the start and a must read.

 Liked it!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and it had me gripped from start to finish. It is written well but, as with other Patterson books some things are a little difficult to believe (as already said). When you get over this it is very good.

 Enjoyable read!!!

Found this to be one of JP's better books. Good plot and the storyline suited the introduction of what will become a new character series in Michael Bennett. Not sure about the 10 children aspect but with all JP's books you have to suspend belief to some degree. Recommended!

This book has to be one of James Pattersons top 10 books, it is addictive and keeps you wanting more. Patterson manages to compine a good mix of action and sensitivity, just like he does in his other fantastic books.
