This is a fantastic book, the story is not long but it does not need to be, written exactly in the way a 9 year old boy thinks. It is a story of friendship and sadness and really moving, unlike anything I have read before. The ending really gets you and makes you think about the book for a long time after. Definately one to buy.
I saw this book in a sale on play.com and after reading the blurb i immediately purchased it. For those of you wanting a 'war' story or something that looks in depth at the holocaust then this is not for you, so don't read it expecting something else and then complaining that it isn't what you thought it would be. Its a sad yet quirky story of friendship, loneliness and innocence. Its relatively short (224 pages) but would make for an ideal book for a holiday (what with summer just round the corner). All in all this is a book for anybody with a respect for literature and a book for anybody who has a heart!
I finished the book in two days...It's about two young boys who form a friendship during the war..one is a very innocent child and has very little of what's going on and the other is suffering from the war. They come to grow very close and build a secret friendship.
I thought this book was very vague in most parts..It didn't go too much into war and was very vague in description in most parts.
However, it was still and enjoyable read...not the best read ofcourse
