Paul Varderman could be at any normal school - bullies, girls and annoying teachers are just a part of life. Unfortunately 'normal' doesn't apply when it comes to the school's most evil bully, Roth. When Paul ends up delivering a message from Roth to the leader of a gang at a nearby school, it fuels a rivalry with immediate consequences.

Gangs, knives and fighting: it has it all!

A really good read that tackles the relevant issue of gangs and the dangers of knives.
For a relatively short story the author does a good job capturing the intricate relationships that occur within schools and the horror of bullying.
Compelling reading from start to finish. Yes it's aimed at the teen market but without being dumbed down. It is an edgy book that should be part of the curriculum.

 A surprisingly good read

I read this as part of my work book club, and wasn't really looking forward to it as it is a booked aimed at teens, but then I sat down to read it. I read the whole thing in one sitting and found it really gripping and interesting. A good read even for adults!

Gritty and Tense "young adult" book

Aimed squarely at the teenage market this is a surprisingly tense story of bullying and peer pressure, an uncomfortable reminder of how bloody unpleasant school could be sometimes, but gripping and significantly more thrilling than many adult thrillers

 Good

A good read that covers bullying in schools, gangs and knife dangers. Covers a number of topics in a sympathetic way and has a surprising ending.

Really short book with large text but it had a good story, totally surprised by the ending. Have recommended it to friends with teenage children.
