It is a good book, i give it that, very enjoyable to read and easy to follow along yet the plot is believable too. However, the ending, ofcourse I won't spoil it but it's really not that great, seems, like he got to the end then gave up. No real effort towards the end but leading up to it, it was fabulous. If it had a good ending then I'd give it a 5 * but nope. Also, it has a good range of vocabulary and old words too! :P.

You can read it over and over!

This book is fantastic! It opens the modern mind to how and what was happening in the First World War.

Tommo is the brother of Charlie, here we are hearing abouts events that have happened to him in his childhood right up to the very last second.

I am an English teacher and I teach this book to 11 yr olds and they are totally amazed at what really happened to some of our young brave men.

I highly reconmend this book if you are into history, reading, empathy for others.

A must read for everyone

I just read this with the school and everyone in our class loved it. This book is a definate if you are looking for something that will make you smile and laugh. The charactors in it are amazing, and you feel as if you are right there with them! I would advise you 100% to buy this book. Great for all ages, our class and the teacher all wished it never finished!

I read this book not so long ago expecting it to be a bit pants really, even with the Blue Peter book award it recieved. However, when i nuckled down into the book and started to understend the characters it really does grip you. Michael Morpurgo has a very clever way of making you feel like you have an almost personal connection with the characters, so much to the point where you wish you could help them. A very very good book for the age group that Play have recommended it for and i would actually go as far as saying that it it suitable for all ages. Especially those who have experienced war and fighting.

  Very Moving

I borrowed this book from my 10 year old daughter who said it was worth reading as it was Blue Peter's book of the year. I wasn't sure what to expect, but very quickly felt involved in Private Peaceful's story of life around WW1. Wonderfully written and emotionally charged. Have the tissues handy for the last chapter, I sobbed and sobbed!
