'Sylvia Plath with the ego of Madonna' NY Times Book Review '...a book with the same relevance and resonance as On the Road, Catch 22 and Generation X' NME 'A brilliant feminist writer' Julie Birchill Prozac Nation is a collective cry for help which is both harrowing and hilarious. It gives voice to the high incidence of depression amongst young people who are fully entrenched in the culture of divorce, economic instability and AIDS. Writing with a vengeance, Elizabeth Wurtzel will not go gentle into that good night. She wants off medication; she wants a family and most definitely a life worth living.

 My Bible...

I have read this book at least 50 times, have been through 5 copies and I still can't get enough. I refer to it as my Bible and would urge absolutely everyone to read it!!

Not only is it a fascinating story and insight into the life of Wurtzel but the wirting is superb. I laughed and cried hysterically and was utterly touched by her incredible poise and ability to relate this difficult memoir to almost anyone.

I'm not going to lie - it can be a difficult read but when I was diagnosed with depression I gave a copy of this book to my friends and family and told them to read it. Nothing has ever touched my life in such a dramatic way and it has helped many to at least attempt to understand my condition.

If you scare easily then maybe this isn't for you, but if like me you want something to relate to, or you are just looking for a fascinating read then Prozac Nation cannot be beaten...
