Not even the icy temperatures of a New England winter can match the bone-chilling scene of carnage discovered in the early morning hours at the chapel of Our Lady of Divine Light. Within the sanctuary walls of the cloistered convent, now stained with blood, lie two nuns - one dead, one critically injured: victims of an unspeakably savage attack. The brutal crime appears to be without motive and the elderly nuns in residence offer little help in the police investigation. But medical examiner Maura Isles' autopsy of the dead woman, twenty-year-old Sister Camille, yields a shocking surprise. The disturbing case takes a stunning new turn when another woman is found murdered in an abandoned building, her features obliterated. Together, Isles and homicide detective Jane Rizzoll uncover an ancient horror that connects these terrible slaughters. As long-buried secrets come to light, Maura Isles finds herself drawn inexorably towards the heart of an investigation that seems to be spiralling closer and closer to home, and the slow but shattering realisation of the killer's identity.

This book is fantastic. Again, like the other Tess books I have read, I could not put it down. I get totally lost in her books, they are great. Cant wait to read the next one ! highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a good horror/thriller.

 Amazing

I came across this book by chance, after starting it i wasnt able to put it down, it's ridiculously gripping. I really enjoyed the crime aspect but also getting to really know the charaters. Gerritsen has also written numerous other books with the same charaters which are equally as amazing. This is a brilliant and fantastic read and not to be missed!

Not as good as the previous 2 books

Didnt think this was as good as previous books but was still quite a good storyline, just a little complicated in places, not one of her best but well worth a try!

A little disappointing after a promising start

This is the third book of this particlar series and so far its the worst. It starts of very well and I really thought that it was going to be a taught thriller. Unfortunately, I think that it focuses on the personal lives of the two main charachters, rather than the crime and the pursuit of the criminal. However, it warms up towards the end again and finishes of well. If you have read the first two books, then I'd still recomend this, but don't expect it to be quite as good.
