'Shoot all the Bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a Mockingbird.' A lawyer's advice to his children as he defends the real mockingbird of Harper Lee's classic novel - a black man charged with the rape of a white girl. Through the young eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee explores with exuberant humour the irrationality of adult attitudes to race and class in the Deep South of the thirties. The conscience of a town steeped in prejudice, violence and hypocrisy is pricked by the stamina of one man's struggle for justice. But the weight of history will only tolerate so much...

Harper Lee writes an incredibly moving story of love, friendship and bravery in this literature classic. The book tells the story of brother and sister, Jem and Scout Finch. As the story unfolds through Scouts' young eyes we experience and learn what bravery is through her father Atticus as he defends a black man in the American South of the 1930's. A must read. 10/10
I read this book at school and found it captivating. you can read it and look into all the deep things, such as the rape case etc, but you can also purely enjoy the children's antics.
Whatever way you read it, it's a wonderful story and so much better than I've seen any movie try and copy. Definitley worth the read.
I got this book a few years ago, but i have recently finished studying it for my GCSE's and i had read a few times before that, and it is definitely one of my favourites
The plot is based around a true story, and also around Lee's own childhood. Although it takes a while to get into, it is definitely worth a read! The most important thing about this book, is it shows how over generations, peoples prejudices have been ingrained and there is a lot of hypocrisy, and it is based around the childrens struggle to break this mould. Overall, just click the buy button, after all, its five-fifty, what have you got to lose?
Delivery of the book was very fast and it came within 3 working days. I was very pleased with this considering i needed it to continue my work. Although the delivery and book were good, the pages fell out. The first 70 pages fell out of the book and i've had to tape them back in, even though i did not bend my book far when reading it, they still fell out. That, i was not pleased with. But overall the book was great.
A great story of friendship, bravery and childish adventures. Is uplifting reading of a family taking the moral high ground at many costs. I loved this and have read it a few times.
