A LITTLE GEM OF A BOOK

This book is simply excellent, def in my top 5 books of all time. its starts in the mid 1800s in rural ireland and tells the story of many differnt characters over a few generations. This book proved near impossible for me to put down when i started reading it and i found myself sitting at 4am on a few occaisions still reading away. If your thinking of giving this book a go then dont think any more just read it,i can guarantee you wont be dissapointed!!

 Fantastic

My dad actually gave me this book and told me to read it and i thought..oh god this looks hard going but boy was i wrong. Its a heart wrenching story of two friends, Conor & Seamus who are best friends and what paths they take in life..The characters are written beautifully and you want to know more with each chapter. I actually cried when Conors' Father Tomas died... If you do one thing this year....READ THIS BOOK!! Also just a note: Bobby Sands described this as one of his favourite books.

 REALLY WORTH A READ !

This isn't a history book . Its does what a history book can't do . It reaches right into the soul of Ireland at that period . Conor Larkin is a Boy & Man who feels he is duty bound to fill the shoes of his Grand Father and Father . It is the story of a young mans battle with himself over his love for his country and his love off his family and his women . It sounds confusing but that was the times Conor lived in .
