The Green Mile: those who walk it do not return, because at the end of that walk is the room in which sits Cold Mountain penitentiary's electric chair. In 1932 the newest resident on death row is John Coffey, a giant black man convicted of the brutal murder of two little girls. But nothing is as it seems with John Coffey, and around him unfolds a bizarre and horrifying story. Evil murderer or holy innocent - whichever he is - Coffey has strange powers which may yet offer salvation to others, even if they can do nothing to save him. THE AUTHOR Stephen King, the world's bestselling novelist, lives with his wife, the novelist Tabitha King, in Bangor, Maine. His novels include CARRIE, THE SHINING and MISERY - all No.1 bestsellers.

I just picked this up spontaniously one day in a bookshop having heard how good the film was I decided to read the book first. Absolutely amazing. It really draws you in and you feel like you're there watching everything.

 Awesome!!!

This book is a must for every King fan. His character description is pertect. The way King makes you feel part of the story is amazing, you almost forget your actually reading.

 Utterly incredable piece of literature

This book totally amazed me when I began to read it. Paul Edgecombe narrates the story from a georgia nursing home in the present time, telling of his incredable and sometimes bizzare experiences on the green mile. Almost certain you will enjoy this if you are into prison set novels.

 Fantastic!

When I was reading this book, i could not put it down once. The way that Stephen King tells the story, leaves the film feeling bland. The book tells more of the story than what the film does. Definatly advise to read!
