The spine of the book is still in great condition and the front cover is generally unmarked. It has signs of previous use but overall is in really nice, tight condition. Seven-year-old Melody Quinn is the only witness of a horrific double murder but she can't or won't talk about what she saw. Child psychologist Alex Delaware is brought in to try and get through to her and to the truth of what happened that night. But it soon becomes clear that Melody isn't just traumatised by the murders. Alex is only too aware that LA is a city which spawns ugliness. But is he prepared for the seemingly bottomless pit of perversion and violence that he's about to uncover?

Thoroughly enjoyed this book - as usual with Jonathan Kellerman's novels, I got gripped and found it difficult to put it down.

When a couple are gruesomely murdered in their apartment, the only possible witness to the crime is a little girl. However, so doped up on medication prescribed by her lazy doctor, it is difficult to assess how much and what she saw. Que Dr. Alex Delaware. As he tries to establish a rapport with the little girl, he inadvertently gets dragged further and further into the murder case.

It was nice to see the character of Alex Delaware be so much more proactive in this book - in some of the later ones although he is involved, he keeps much more to himself, whereas in the earlier ones he seems much more outgoing.
Good book.
