What a Front

Have read all the PC books must say that the last one or two have made me wonder if she is resting on her laurels. Large print double line spacing, more like short stories spun out to seem like good value novels. The Front being a story which I thought shallow, characters drawn by using brand names and name dropping. Story line was hollow and became more unreal as it progressed. In all very disappointing, will think twice about buying any more of her books. Shame as her early Kay Scarpetta were great.
Patricia is back on top

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of The Front, and I was looking forward, but also a little weary about reading it. I didn't really enjoy At Risk, thought that the concentration of characters was to much. But reflecting now, it made The Front all the more better. The story is fantastic, and the characters were a lot more clearer in there roles. I thought the plot was intriguing, and simple enough to put down and the pick up again.
I really enjoyed this, and thank you Patricia Cornwell for being back on form.
Kay is the best but...

I've just finished reading the advance copy. Patricia Cornwell given the best of her this time as well.... Even though I am a huge fan of the timeless Kay Scarpetta, this book is a breath-taking thriller and Win Garano is a more and more fascinating character. At time, however, Patricia Cornwell tends to concentrate more on the private life of the characters than on the murder case itself, but she is now and forever the queen of thriller. I warmly recommend this book to all the lovers of this particular literary genre. It really gripped my attention from the first page to the last.

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable book. Definitely a must for all Patricia Cornwell fans. The writing in the present tense can be a little off putting but once past the fourth chapter it is part of the experience. The language is easily accessible as is the imagery.
It is a shame that the book is so short and the type a little on the large side, it would be easy to believe that the reader has been short changed.
That said it is an interesting book well worth the money for a P C fan.

Win Garano and his Nana are a great pair, weird but great anyway. Win Garano is everthing his boss Monique Lamont isn't. Once again she puts him and herself in danger so she can get ahead in the political game she plays, but Win cuts through the politics to find the truth. Great book and quite real to life in some ways. I love the Scarpetta series and it looks like i'm going to enjoy this series just as much.

State Investigator Win Garano is at the beck and call of his boss, rich, selfish and beautiful District Attorney Monique Lamont.
As in "At Risk"she again orders him to solve a case going back many years, putting both their lives in jeopardy to further her career, Win knowing he will get no thanks from her.
Interesting characters along the way include Stump and Raggedy Anne. I enjoy his Nana and Miss Dog again.
Every page so full of action, twists and turns. Patricia Cornwell in top form again.

Somethings get better with age, and like a fine wine..each novel Patricia Cornwell writes..just gets better and better.
The plot contains the continued story of Investigator Win Garano in a case that links both the Us and England in a cold case.
The story graps u from the get go as you travel with Win in an attempt to sort out the truth from fiction, find the real evidence and try and unravel the case of a yet another possiable victim of the Boston Strangler.
Decite, evny, secrets and the uncanny , expect all as you set to enter the world of Win Garno
The only fault with this book is that i got it during my uni exams..the hours i spent reading , i should of spent studying or sleeping..i could not put this book donw.
In the race for best Author Patricia Cornwell snipped at the heels of others and Trips them up As FRONt runner in My Case...Another outstanding Novel by one of the best crime writers of this century.
Great book

I have been a Patricia Cornwell fan for a long time and this is one of her best books. Hard hitting, engaging without unnecessary gore. A great read, well written and hard to put down until finished.
I appreciated the way Lamont's character is developed in all his hues and how Win Garano never becomes a hero but always stays human.
A definite must read.
great new book from cornwell!!

This book was a great read - I found it more light-hearted than the Scarpetta series, and has a brilliant main character in Win Garano. The story's about an investigation into a murder that happened 40 years ago, and includes characters, like Win's Nana, that you really get interested in. I loved it. One complaint, though, that it was too short! I'm already looking forward to the next in the series!
