Gus Dury once had a career as a journalist and a wife he adored. But now he is living on the edge, a drink away from Edinburgh's down-and-outs. But the road takes an unexpected turn when a friend asks him to investigate the killing of his son, and Gus becomes embroiled in a much bigger story of political corruption and illegal people-trafficking.

The best book I've read this year. Unlike your usual fodder of American Crime, this novel is set in Scotland, the gritty underworld side of it, with your usual drunks, and hardmen. Fantastic, seedy book that keeps you turning the pages until the very end. Also out now, can't wait to read Gutted, and early next year look out for Loss.
