A light-hearted collection of reminiscences of teenage Subbuteo fandom - from some of Britain best-know football professionals, pundits, enthusiasts, comics and gossips - interleaved with beautifully shot scenes from the sub-beautiful game itself. The range of extras that were available to the Subbuteo collector is phenomenal (grandstands, TV cameras, ice cream vans, even streakers - true to 1970s life), and these make for spectacular images.

I really enjoyed this book, bringing back some great memories of my childhood and early teenage years when all I thought about was footie,if it was too wet to play and put the jumpers down for goal posts, then you kept inside and flicked the kick. There are so may great stories here from the contributors, amazing to think that some great ex players/celebs and old turnip head himself flicked kicks (sorry Graham, do I not like that?) I remember how certain pieces of plastic turned into your footie heroes during a game as they won endless MOM awards.Big Duncan Forbes (6ft 2,eyes of blue) always seemed to break opposition players legs, mostly Leeds players! I could go on and on.Its a great little book,go buy it.Here's to the World Cup version.OTBC. Plunky
