The Shack | Paperback

I read this as part fo a book group and was very open to it. However, I found it to be fundamentally about promoting religion and was a little uncomfortable. So, not for me, but I can understand why others might find it uplifting.

A book which will always be in your mind and your heart. I will give it to all my friends for this Christmas.

I was first lent the book from my sister; it taught me a lot about God's love. My husband read it as well and concluded it was the best book he read. We ended up buying two more books and I am buying my third to give out as a Christmas present now. I feel this is a book one could keep as his First Aid tool in times of trouble. Well done to the Author!!

I don't get why this book sold 10million copies. It has a horrible story about how a father's very young daughter is snatched and killed by a pervert...then he is drawn back to the place she died many years later, whereby he has a very, VERY long conversation with God and Jesus etc (except God is a black woman, and Jesus is some whimsical hippie). I could, and have, written more thought-provoking material than this. This covers VERY familiar and boring subject matter. I grant you, it is an easy read, hence why it took me only a day to read. But, come on people, it ain't that great a story! A strange, and ultimately, forgettable read. I'll give this book to someone who goes to Church.

This book was recommended to be after what started off as banter as to whether God was a "SHE". I took the book with me for my long journey to Australia. I was riveted from the 1st page and went through a series of emotions. Laughter, tears, hairs standing up on the back of my neck I just couldn't put it down. At one point the steward was trying to attract my intention and eventually had to touch my shoulder to the effect that I came up out of my seat and the book went flying. I would recommend this book to anyone Christian, agnostic or atheist. A book to make you think and hopefully point you in the direction of God

Personally, I wasn't blown away by any amazing revelations in this book, but that is because the depiction of the Trinity (God, Christ and the Holy Spirit) within this story is how I percieved God anyway.

I found this book more re-assuring then anything else in that my view of God is shared by others.

But I expect there are a lot of fundimentalist Christians, and athiests who have believe God is bad and vengful and all about damnation, who NEED to read this book.

This book will show that God is NOT about damnation, and all about love, guidance and just wanting a relationship with you.

Just finished reading "The Shack".
This book seems to appeal to a lot of people, but I found it far too preachy.
The part of the book that deals with Missy's disappearance was well written and interesting but the plot, such as it is, seems to go downhill from there.
I'm just glad I managed to get to the end so that I can now tackle something a bit more substantial.

Wm Paul Young's The Shack is an enjoyable read which helps the reader better understand their spiritual side.

I won't give away the plot but there are definately some interesting questions raised (and answered) in this book. Unfortunately it can at times be a little difficult to understand and almost too thought provoking.

I enjoyed this book and I liked that it was theologically enlightening. Its not for everyone and the story itself is a little simple but its a good read especially if its spirtual subject interests you.

I really enjoyed this book, parts of it I feel I was missing something. The success of this book has been down to word of mouth and there is really no need to say anymore.

I read this book whilst on holiday after reading lot's of good reviews about it and it was an enjoyable read. Im an athiest and usually enjoy reading Richard Dawkins ect but this book had a good concept and i thought it was worth a go and a good idea to balance out my some what biased views. I liked the ideas of faith which come up in the book at lot and can possibly see why some atheist have decided to change there views after reading this but it's not for me. There is just too much evidence that the god of the bible doesn't exist in my opinion but each to their own, either way its worth a read.
