Newbery Medal Winning Novel When a baby escapes a murderer intent on killing the entire family, who would have thought it would find safety and security in the local graveyard? Brought up by the resident ghosts, ghouls and spectres, Bod has an eccentric childhood learning about life from the dead. But for Bod there is also the danger of the murderer still looking for him - after all, he is the last remaining member of the family. A stunningly original novel deftly constructed over eight chapters, featuring every second year of Bod's life, from babyhood to adolescence. Will Bod survive to be a man?

 Master Storytelling

From the very first words on the very first page this book takes root in your imagination and runs wild in your dreams. Not just a ghost story , not just a supernatural tale for children and adults alike, this book is a true modern fairy tale that draws upon all our fears and hopes and allows us to experience them through the eyes of Nobody "Bod" Owens as he grown within the safety and protection of his very unusual family.
Loss, grief, belonging, growing are all themes that are woven into a very entertaining adventure story that only the most cynical reader would fail to enjoy.
A masterpiece Mr Gaiman, I take my hat off to you.

This book is a great childrens novel set in a graveyard, and would make an ace film. Probably better for kids aged 11 upwards, it grabs the imagination and doesnt let you go until the end.
