I only bought and read this book in the first place because my friend wouldn't stop nagging me about it. I bought this book against my better judgement, as to be honest I really didn't like the sound of it. I will never doubt my friend EVER again!! I will warn you now, only buy this book if you are willing to stay up until 4 in the morning because you simply cannot bring yourself to put the book down. I was dubious about this book at first because to me the blurb makes it sound like a horrible book filled with mindless violence, but trust me when I say The Hunger Games is about so much more than that. True, you cannot read The Hunger Games without reading about violence, because the Games themselves are a fight to the death, but along the way you also get to read about friendship, courage, loyalty and love. The Hunger Games is a fantastic series and I urge everyone to read these fantastic books.

I have never read a book quite like this..

I bought this book as I'd heard so much abut how great the trilogy was. When I had read the first chapter I wasn't overly impressed but decided I had to at least give it a chance...boy, am I glad I did! You can't help but get enthralled in Katniss's story. There is so much suspense and tension. Every chapter ends on a suspensful note and you are gagging to read the next one. Even the very last line in the book ends so perfectly and suspensfully that I simply cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel! Unfortunatel as it's half 7 at night I am unable to get my hands on it at this moment but let me tell you, I will be banging down the door of my local bookstore tomorrow morning!

The hunger games was a brilliant book full of action and a whisp of romance. Definatley going to be bigger than Twilight. It brings more imagination than you'd expect aswell. Very thoughtfully written, if you like action, drama, something different and unique. This is your book.

  Different Covers...

I bought two of these, one for myself and one for a friend's birthday; they both had different covers. One has a boy(blue and black cover) and one has the girl pictured (red and black cover). The red and black has a recommendationary quote from Stephenie Meyer on the front and the blue and black has a recommendationary quote from Stephen King.
I couldn't really add muchin terms to what other reviewers have said on the content of the books, but felt that people may be interested to know that they may not receive the cover pictured,,,
Both are very cool, though! ;-)

I heard about this and got advised to read it a few times. I put if off, and off until I was bored and went to library. I saw it and decided its now or never. Well, I HAD to buy the next two to find out what happened because I couldn't wait for to get it in. My friend read the first in 12 hours, the 'Catching Fire' (2nd Book) in 24 and 'Mockingjay' (3rd book) in just 8 hours.)

Its such a wonderful read, it keeps you gripped, puzzled and entertained through out. Some of the killings are quiet graphic, without been disturbing which is what books these days are lacking. The fight for survival has you on the edge of your seat throughout.

I believe this will be almost as big as Harry Potter and as big as, if not bigger then, Twilight.

Don't hold back the reading of this, click buy and get reading. You won't regret it.

  Believe the hype!!

I had heard of the Hunger Games but never really actually made the step to buying it. After thinking about what next to read I saw a lot of reviews for the hunger games. All were five stars, excellent, must reads!

I wasnt disappointed! The Hunger Games is fast paced and Suzanne Collins writes in a style where you know the characters and feel as if you are there is the story.

A must read!!

The Hunger Games grabbed my full attention within the first 40 pages. I spent every spare minute with my nose between the pages and wow, what a fabulous read. The words just flowed and my imagination went wild!

Katniss, the main character, takes the place of her sister in the annual Hunger Games - a reality tv show run each year by the evil 'Capitol' where only one of the 24 contestants will come out alive. It's a fight for survival for the unfortunately kids who get chosen - one boy and one girl from each District, who are all between the ages of 12 and 16.

A truly original concept. In the back of the book there is an interview with the author, Suzanne Collins, where she states that she came across this idea whilst flicking the tv channels, one side had a programme about war and another a reality tv show.

I recommend this book to all my friends. It has to be one of the best books I've ever read!
