 How the Law was Born

Long before I became MangaFan, I was definately a comic fan and like many of my generation 2000AD was THE British comic of the 70's and 80's and Judge Dredd was its star. Of course he went onto greater things, including one (maybe two) movies, but this is where it all started. Here we meet a Joe Dredd before he became the icon, when the writers were still finding their feet with the character and the world he lived in. As a result some of the stories are hit-and-miss and the writing can at times seem childish and for that reason I've only given this volume 4 stars. But stick with the series and you see Dredd turning into something much harder and adult, the only Judge who could get away with saying 'I am the law!'

 Best comic book character, ever!

I have grown up reading but one comic, 2000ad's Judge Dredd. So to have the first set of issues in one volume is the perfect collector's pack. Judge Dredd is a futuristic lawman that beats all the other comic book characters with a swift fist of justice. Buy the volumes at their cheep internet prices and be amazed with the transition from classic black and white to high detail colour action! 2000ad needs a bigger fan base, so get reading this must buy legend!

 Judge Dredd at its best

I totally agree with the above review. If you are a fan of Judge Dredd then this is a must. The only thing that drops it for me is Walter the Wobot but it was released a long time ago. I will be asking for volume 2 for xmas. Worth the money. Oh, and it is very well presented
