4 How the Law was BornMangaFan | 02/06/2009 | See all MangaFan's reviews (3)Long before I became MangaFan, I was definately a comic fan and like many of my generation 2000AD was THE British comic of the 70's and 80's and Judge Dredd was its star. Of course he went onto greater things, including one (maybe two) movies, but this is where it all started. Here we meet a Joe Dredd before he became the icon, when the writers were still finding their feet with the character and the world he lived in. As a result some of the stories are hit-and-miss and the writing can at times seem childish and for that reason I've only given this volume 4 stars. But stick with the series and you see Dredd turning into something much harder and adult, the only Judge who could get away with saying 'I am the law!'
