It was the Capitol Building, Washington DC. Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon believes he is here to give a lecture. He is wrong. Within minutes of his arrival, a shocking object is discovered. It is a gruesome invitation into an ancient world of hidden wisdom. When Langdon's mentor, Peter Solomon - prominent mason and philanthropist - is kidnapped, Langdon realizes that his only hope of saving his friend's life is to accept this mysterious summons. It is to take him on a breathless chase through Washington's dark history. All that was familiar is changed into a shadowy, mythical world in which Masonic secrets and never-before-seen revelations seem to be leading him to a single impossible and inconceivable truth.

This is a bit of a difficult review to write. Having read all of Dan Brown's previous novels and having enjoyed them enormously, I have to say I am a fan. However, this novel fell short of my expectations.

Once again, Dan Brown must be commended for his extensive research shown through the wealth of knowledge portrayed throughout this novel. It was well written and fast paced (something we have all come to expect from the novelist) but the overall structure of the plot resembled his other books - meaning although this is set in a different country and focuses on a different religious group, the types of problems faced and in particular the types of characters in the book are all too familiar.

I would say it is worth reading this book as I DID enjoy it... but don't open it with the expectation of something different as you will be dissappointed.

Dan brown has made enough money.

Sorry, this time the book never took off Very put-downable. Hard to get into the story. Only a few fast, exciting bits. Not at all like his previous books. He' ll have to do a lot better to entice me back. Spend your money on a different book.

Gripping and Tense - a MUST read. Truly amazing by Dan Brown

I have a reputation for taking a very long time to read a book. Well not this time I couldn't put the thing down. The book doesn't take long before all the drama begins. So much tension it almost feels like you are part of it. From start to finish I enjoyed every moment of it.

Dan Brown has really pulled it off this time. I highly recommend this book it's simply fantastic.

for a start i am not a massive book reader but seeing the previous films such as da vinci code and angels and demons i though why not read the latest robert langdon issue. i must say i was hooked from the beginning and cannot but the book down. The other review is correct when it comes to dan browns understanding of these mystery symbols and ancient mysteries along with other scientific discoveries.

Must read :)
