the book overall is very good, fast paced and dan brown has definitely put so much effort into his research, as always, which is why i'd say the book is still worth a read. but those who read this review after reading the book will agree with me when i say that the conclusion is very disappointing, and basically renders the rest of the book irrelevant

If you liked his previous books, you'll surely love this. A great book filled with thrills and a fabolous story. Dan Brown once again shows us what he is capable of.

the lost symbol has been in my to read pile for a few years. so i finally thought just read it.

its a slow beginning and took 200 pages to get into it, but i'm now 60 pages from the end and i think i'll finish it tonight.
been reading the hardback and it weighs a tonne, get the paperback if its for night time reading.
interesting issues on religion, washington, and the masons, with many religious occult symbols thrown in for good measure..

I have read a lot of Dan Brown's books, and they do always follow the same set pattern. It could get boring, as they are quite similar but with different settings and names, and I think he should go outside of his comfort zone a bit. But still, they are entertaining. I found the characters in this interesting, but thought it lost momentum and the writing became a bit rambling at the end. Not as well laid out as the other books, but I still couldn't put it down. He has an ability to make me turn the next page :)

I had some preconceived ideas about Dan Brown, but often low expectations can lead to unexpected enjoyment.

Not in this case.

From the obvious "create a solution to a puzzle and plot backwards" storyline to the unbelievably bad writing style this was a truly awful read that I only completed as it was on our Book Club's list.

I know I'm in a minority here - just look at the sales figures, and I will admit that it was a page turner and there is some fun to be had with Dan Brown fans by repeating "ah yes, but what if it's all true?" at them in a spaced voice, or building intricate conspiracy theories around the fact that the epilogue begins on page 666, but I still think it is best avoided.

Works well as a thriller and works really well as an introduction to some of D.C.'s architecture. Enjoyed the read, not as tense as some but good stuff.

Good read and i can see Tom Hanks in the movie,but its a bit bland
and not his best,though a decent effort.

i enjoyed this book i would have come up with a better ending myself. Brown tried to hard to keep the suspense going and lost the storyline a little bit so by the end it was just facts and no storyline. there were 3 scenes in the novel which i admit were really captivating but they were short, i read it on holidays and would recommend as it is better than alot of other books i've read, just not the best...

I couldn't put it down... totally gripping! Although in some places a bit slow-paced, overall it was a really enjoyable read with some unexpected twists. A classic Dan Brown novel.

This book was alot more compact in regards to the time the book was set through to his other ones. I thought that the book was a very easy read and I was hooked until it was over. The plot was easy to work out and there is not as much detail as say Angels and Demons but still definatly worth a read
