Recounts the lives and tales of the Pierrepoint family; their reasons for taking up the profession and the inside details of the execution cases and the deeds themselves. This book provides an insight on the feuds and intense rivalry between fellow hangmen as well as the notorious cases that kept the family firmly in the spotlight.

Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. Albert Pierrepoint, although being the executioner was also a real gentleman and made sure that the deceased were treated with dignity and respect. The film also makes good viewing.
