I did manage to finish this book against my better judgement! It was boring incomprehensible and longwinded and the characters were not believable

Got as far as page 106. Could not face another three pages of rambling prose before I got to more dialogue. I thought it was a story built around cricket instead it was a story built around a very boring Dutchman. Longwinded.
