Introducing the first eight volumes of the fan-favorite, "New York Times Best Seller" series collected into one massive paperback collection! This title collects "The Walking Dead numbered 1-48". This is the perfect collection for any fan of the Emmy Award-winning television series on AMC: over one thousand pages chronicling the beginning of Robert Kirkman's Eisner Award-winning continuing story of survival horror - from Rick Grimes' waking up alone in a hospital, to him and his family seeking solace on Hershel's farm, and the controversial introduction of Woodbury despot: The Governor. In a world ruled by the dead, we are finally forced to finally start living.

I feel by writing this i'm on reiterating what has already been said, which is that this collection of the comics is absolutely superb!
It's so engrosing, I read the first three chapters within a few hours and then felt compelled to order the next compendium.
If you enjoyed the TV series you will love this, for me they are both fantatsic, but the comic books are so much more compelling and theres plot twists galore!
If like me you've never read a comic book before, this would be the perfect place to start!

1100 pages of pure genius. Kirkman is a fantastic writer, and it shows with this series. Despite already spanning over 50 comics, the series stays fresh and original. The fact that Kirkman pulls no punches helps a lot. Often times, characters are fleshed out and given entire back stories, before being killed off without remorse.

There is no doubt that this is an adult book, containing the same amounts of gut-exploding, limb-removing, bloody violence as the best zombie movies out there.

While I personally prefer Moore's artwork (only present in the first part of the book), the rest still looks great. The entire thing is black and white, back-to-back, but it's well shaded and the detail in each frame is finely balanced, so it never gets tiring to read.

In essence, any zombie fan, or anyone looking for an involving and long-running series should definately check this out.

 Best Comic Ever

Before I tell you about the walking dead, please don't confuse this with a manga, as it is the total opposite to that.

TWD is an amazing story about a zombie apocalypse, with real characters and not some pretty, big breasted teen girls and overly buff 14-year-old boys with funny hair.

It is a gripping story that has a lot of similarities with a lot of zombie films/books/comics/games, but at the same time it has an original concept with things that other people have never thought of.

I'm up to #75 and I still want more, normally I get bored of things very fast, but TWD has kept me entertained from the start and like I said I still want more.

For people that are into horror, comics, zombies or a good story...this is the one to buy. This doesn't deserve 5* it deserves higher, a lot higher.

This book is awesomeness at it's best. Watched the tv-series? READ THE BOOK. It's such much better than it and I can't stress it enough. It's the complete opposite of a manga. With a highly compelling story and deeply immersive characters The Walking Dead ceases to amaze!

Awesome Graphic Novel should be a TV series!

A great Zombie themed graphic novel dealing with people surviving through a zombie filled nightmare battling their own human frailties as well as other survivors driven over the edge and back to an almost feral dog eat dog existence trying to survive!
One slight drawback is that it is all in black and white but the artwork is great and fits very well with the story thoroughly recommended - especially if you like all things zombie!
