Ok well if you've read the other 7 books I don't really need to say anything (but clearly I'm going to) and if you haven't read the other 7 books please do not start with his one - you would be doing yourself a great injustice!!!
I can't believe how amazing these books are, they have actually taken over my life and many of my thoughts are now dominated by Eric......... or is it actually by Alexander Skarsgård..... or is it by an Eric who looks like Alexander Skarsgård.....anyway.....
You will really not be disappointed with this 8th installment of the Sookie Stackhouse novels! It's even more exciting and gripping than ever and it seems to be going the right way for my favourite vamp/human couple (your guess whether I mean "B+S" or "E+S").
I didn't even know about these books until I haphazardly discovered the HBO series True Blood which is based on the books so I decided to read them because the series was just so perfect. I don't think I would necessarily recommend reading the books while simultaneously following the series as it can get confusing as to what you have actually seen on tv and what you have very vividly conjured up in your imagination from reading the books.
But the series has allowed me to have very real images of what all my Bon Temps characters look like when I read as I think the casting of the main characters is perfection itself. Obviously I think Alexander Skarsgård is a pretty good casting of Eric, but Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Sam Trammel are as if magically extracted from the pages of Charlaine Harris.
But a word of warning though - if you're the kind of person who walked around in a daze for weeks after having read The Deathly Hallows because you felt a sense of having had an important part of your life ripped away from you, mourning over the end of an era that you will alas never be apart of, hating the fact that you're a mere Muggle - then do not read these books if you are entering into or in the middle of an important part of your life eg. exams, beginning stages of dating, job searching etc. because they will take you over, they will occupy every part of your brain and they will begin to influence your everyday actions:
"Should I go out and post this very important letter about Council Tax Benefit?" - "No! I will stay here and read about Sookie and see if that blood bond might draw Eric back into the book soon".
So I've warned you, consider very carefully when you chose to read these books.
But having said that this 8th book is amazing; we meet new characters, say goodbye to some old ones and we delve even further into the mystery that is the life of Sookie Stackhouse.

 Slightly disapointing

After finishing it 8 hours after it arrived in the post (like i have done with all the previous books) i was disappointed. I have to be honest and say I found this book a bit of a let down, no where near as good as the previous books. Book 4 is still my favourite. But will i still read the next book in May 2010? Oh yes, without a doubt.

 BRILLIANT.......

i am loving all these books...since the last book quinn is still missing...you see sookie getting closer to eric [is it because they have a blood bond or does she really like him..]sookie is still friend of the pack, her and sam help alcide become new pack leader...also we find out more of sams past...she meets amelia s father who is a tycoon..lots of twists and turns..well worth a read...

Once again, Sookie's life is suffering.
Whether there's problems between her and the men in her life- be it Quinn, Eric or Bill - or her family - Jason and her sister in law, Crystal - everything is beginning to get too much for Sookie to take.
