If you liked the twilight saga you'll love this! It took me a while to get into but once I was past the first few chapters I was hooked! I loved all the characters and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I was gutted when it finished, although she has left it open for another. I really hope she writes more, Twilight or Hosts cause I love them all.

After reading the twilight saga, I was sceptical that this book would be any good- either a let down or too similar to twilight. However I found this book almost better than twilight. It takes a while to get into as very little is explained in the beginning but it doesnt take too long to get really interesting. The great thing about Stephanie meyers writing is that she lets little bits of information out at a time, so even though at the beginning you may not understand, a bit later the story line becomes quite clever and u realise whats been goin on. I read this book in 3 days, I cudnt put it down and I think it would be a gr8 book to adapt into a film. I feel this book had a lot more imagination than the twilight saga, as there are so many similar vampire storys out at the moment. If u enjoyed twilight than definitely read this, u might prefer it and dont be put off by the confusing beginning as it all becomes clear quite quickly. Overall i found this book one of the best iv read recently and really enjoyed the suspense and drama, afterall there is nothing worse than a book thats spends ages describing things but has a rubbish and boring plot line. If u do enjoy this book, u may want to try The Handmaids Tale by Margaret attwood as it is similar. Brilliant book, a must read, can't wait until Stephanie Meyer writes another book!
At first i thought it was going to be a disapointing book as it was very slow to get into, but after persevering for the first 4 chapters i couldn't put this book down. I loved it so much and i like how you can see the relationship between Melanie & Ian develope. Read if you liked: twilight, Vampire diaries or Need.
Well after reading the Twilight Saga books numerous times, I couldn't wait to get my eyes into The Host. After the trilling read of the Twilight books, I thought it must be as good, if not better as this was aimed at adults. I could not be more wrong. I was very disappointed, the storey is about a love triangle between an alient being (Wanderer) and the host body it is in (Melanie) and Melanies boyfriend. It takes you on a boaring journey into nowhere but does explain the relationship that Melanie and Wanderer develop. Not a bad story, but there is nothing in it to keep you gripped. I only finished it as I thought "it has to get better, keep going and you'll see". Well it didn't, I had great difficulty finishing it. It is a very long book, but it goes on too long...... The style of writing is nothing like twilight, so if you are looking for something similar, don't buy this book, it will be a waste of money, you will be disappointed.
Firstly, can I just ask people to PLEASE stop trying to compare this book to the Twilight series! Just because it is the same author doesn't mean they have to use the same story over and over again. I get the feeling that some of these people expected to read the books and have the same sort of story repeated? Maybe even Edward would wander in half way through. I don't know. But comparing two totally different storylines just because they're from the same author is wrong.
Personally I loved this book. It's a SciFi book (so if you're not into SciFi/are just a mythical fiction reader with no capacity for other genres, don't bother) about alien invasion and the paracitic overthrowing of the human race.
I was expecting the book to be from the Hosts point of view - I was for some reason surprised that it was actually the view of paracite gaining a handle on human emotions and I felt that Meyer managed to convey how "alien" our overcomplicated emotions would seem to another race exceptionally well.
I found myself totally engaged with the characters and generally followed their ups and downs through the story sympathetically.
A brilliant read, Stephenie Meyer should be proud as she has done very well to express this story so well. Thanks for a brilliant read!
