A fan of twilight - not me !

| | See all rdaneel's reviews (6)

My wife loved Twilight, my American penfriend loved Twilight, everyone loved Twilight - but not me, I couldn't get past the first few pages and resorted to listening to the audio book it bored me so much ! So you can imagine my trepidation on hearing that Stephanie Meyer had written a new novel. But, hey, I thought, this sounds like real science fiction. Perhaps she can string a story together and actually get the first person narrative to be interesting this time. Perhaps she can tell a story and not use twice the amount of words that are actually needed. So I bought the book, mostly for my wife as a gift ,but couldn't resist taking a peak at the first few pages.....I am so glad I did.
Wow, she has really pulled it off ! A truly original, heartwarming (yes , I know a yucky description), romance, adventure story. A love triangle with three minds and two bodies or is it a love quadrangle with three bodies and four minds ? ! And wait for it , yes, a great science fiction story. Believable characters with believable emotions in a believable Invasion of the Body Snatchers "utopian" near future.
I loved this book and couldn''t put it down. My wife cried at the end.
And still I miss reading about "Wanda".
Read this book at your peril - 'cos you'll be so sad when you finish it.

i thought this was a really good read, but not as good as the twilight saga. the first few chapters were a bit slow but it did pick up and the rest of the book was good. i thought this was going to be more of an adult book than twilight saga but that wasn,t the case.

  loved this book

Like most people I read the twilight saga (loved it) and needed something else to love, so i trusted Stephanie enough to try 'the host'. The first 60 pages are a little slow but that's expected with the need to lay foundations to begin a story. Even though the start is slow it's not boring. It goes on to a truly original point of view of the 'invading soul'. I was totally hooked and couldn't stop reading. I recommend this book if you liked the twilight books. It is written in the same sweet first person way that makes you love the main character like Bella and interestingly (I thought) with a cover and back the same as the twilight books as if they were all together.

you must read this book if you loved twilight!

A must read for any Twilight fan

If you liked the twilight saga you'll love this! It took me a while to get into but once I was past the first few chapters I was hooked! I loved all the characters and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I was gutted when it finished, although she has left it open for another. I really hope she writes more, Twilight or Hosts cause I love them all.

I purchased this book after reading the twilight series to see what it was like. And well it was absoloutely amazing.

I found it to be one of those books that when you pick them up you simply can't put it down again! The storyline was brilliant, and to be honest i think this book is on par with the twilight series. They are all brilliant.

Adored twilight, and picked this up after i had finshed reading the others and was not disapointed! The first few chapters start a little slow, but when the story gets goings its great. i loved the characters, especially Wanda, and loved how the story is told from her perspective...as a body snatching alien! The love triangle (Involving 2 bodies) was clever and the book had me gripped until the end chapter...can't wait for the next one!

I loved the twilight saga so when i finished i thought i'd try this one of stephenis's. Really glad i did, the first about sixty pages was a little slow going but after i couldn't put it down. Very gripping, cant wait for the next one to come out.
