15 years ago, this enigmatic graphic novel performed its mental autopsy on Batman and his enemies, and in doing so set both its creators on the road to greatness. In Gotham City's home for the criminally insane, Batman confronts his arch-nemeses, including the Joker, Two-Face and more. Before the battle is over, Batman's mental straight-jacket will have been torn apart, exposing his every weakness and bringing him far closer to his foes than he could ever possibly have wanted! To celebrate this illustrious anniversary, "Arkham Asylum" has been re-launched in this sumptuous paperback that includes Morrison's complete script, original thumbnail breakdowns, samples of how the story and art came together, and much more!

 Batman: Arkham Asylum. Amazing.

This comic is almost everything but action. It's a crime story, psychological horror, drama, thriller... and it's a damn good read. The artwork is brilliant, very surreal and disturbing. Like a lot of people say, the storyline isn't top notch but it deals with insanity and psychopaths. The insanity doesn't let go. It's very disturbing but one of Batman's greatest stories! It contains strong violence and horror.

2 stars? WHAT?! Probably the greatest Batman book to date

Find it bizzare that someone has given this masterpiece only 2 stars. It is easily my favourite of the series, dark and clever! The artwork is first class, I wish all graphic novels were so beautifully crafted. The story is clever, creepy and very atmospheric. This is a must buy for anyone, Batman fan or not! Also check out 'Night Cries' which is another mature and excellently drawn novel (although don't think play have it?) .

First read the script, then the comic

This is a case of too-ambitious art ruining what's a pretty interesting story at heart. Don't get me wrong: The art is beautiful. But it makes it downright impossible at times to tell what's going on without scrutinizing each panel for five minutes. Couple that with the Joker's dialogue being written in a red scrawl that ALSO takes time to decipher, and you've got a tiring book to read.

This is why it's good that this version of the book comes with the script attached. Having read and been thoroughly confused by the comic itself, I took to look at what was SUPPOSED to be happening in the most hard-to-decipher scenes... And suddenly, the story actually became pretty interesting.

If you're prepared for something a little out of the ordinary, pick this up. And start reading at the white-colored pages BEFORE you actually move to the comic. You'll come away feeling a lot more satisfied. I wouldn't recommend getting a version without the attached script: It's downright essential to enjoying this story.

 good art disapointing plot

I will give the graphic novel credit for its art work, it is different and i enjoyed it to a certain point but what i am dispointed about with this novel is the plot lines and the story itself. Its like the writer is trying to be too clever and show the insanity of the asylum which we already can figure out for ourselves and its over before it starts to get good and the ending is very disapointing, i was very dispointed with this graphic novel.

 Must have!

This novel is one of the first of my collection i loved this book as it gives you more information on the ways that the inmates at arkham think and see the world. It also gives you the story behind the aslylum. This book inspired me to read "alice and wonderland" as it has some quotes which fit in quite well with the story. This book will make you realize what batman thinks of the people he puts in the asylum. I feel Batman fans will not regret buying this book it is one of my favourates. the art work in this book is awesome as well some of it is quite scary when you are reading it and you get into the book which is all the more reason to read it because you might realize what you would feel if you were in the asylum your self i did anyways so see if you do to!
