Again another brill read from start to finish, please Wendy do a follow up!
I love the books by Wendy Holden and read them all. They are all witty, humerous, great characters and written with speed. So I was really looking forward to her latest novel, Beautiful People, suspected to a pageturner of 695 pages. Unfortunately, my expecations were not met. the characters again are fun with Belle Murphy as the American equivalent of Champagne D'Vine. The writing in itself is OK, but there are too many storylines and character. Too many descriptions of the same (the village in Italy, situations, the movieworlld etc) from different points of view that take too long. It wasn't untill page 200 that I warmed a little to the character and the sorylines not only till page 400 that the story started to unfold. I think only the last 100 pages were as captivating as her other novels. So Wendy Holden: please keep on writing but rely in your old, witty, speedy style. Three of four characters are more the enough! As are 300 pages!
