3 Great coat, but not waterproofLostMoose | 31/12/2012 | See all LostMoose's reviews (1)When this coat arrived and I first tried it on I was chuffed to bits. It can be zipped up higher than most other coats that I have seen/owned which offers your face and neck great protection from the wind. Also the hood, which can be unzipped from the neck and zipped back at the wearers discretion, is peaked all the way round and extends beyond the wearers face to offer extra protection from the elements....I presumed. However, when I tested it outside in the rain it turns out that, frustratingly, it isn't actually very waterproof. In fact, the material seemed to absorb the rain fairly effectively! Other downsides are that it is not particularly breathable, so you can get quite hot and sweaty if you wear it on a short, brisk walk. Also, the bottom of the coat is elasticated very tightly all the way round, which is good in that it stops the wind from blowing up inside, but I found it quite constricting and uncomfortable at times. Likewise, if you need to raise your arms up to more that chest height the coat rides up and perches stubbornly on your love-handles, which means you are forever pulling it down again.Overall it is a fairly decent coat for the price and if you are looking for a cheap coat that keeps you reasonably warm and protected from the wind then this is probably a good choice. However, if you are looking for a more practical coat that is waterproof and doesn't keep riding up then I would look elsewhere.
