Based on the true life best seller 'Wiseguy' by Nicholas Pileggi and backed by a dynamic pop/rock oldies soundtrack was named 1990's best film by the New York, Los Angeles and National Society of Film Critics. And it earned six Academy Award Nominations.

Robert De Niro received wide recognition for his performance as veteran criminal Jimmy "The Gent" Conway. And as the volatile Tommy DeVito, Joe Pesci walked off with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, Academy Award nominee Lorraine Bracco, Ray Liotta and Paul Sorvino also turned in electrifying performances. You have to see it to believe it.

 Reviewing the Blu Ray

Aside from Godfather and Godfather ll this is the greatest gangster movie ever made. Which is what makes this Blu Ray so disappointing. This is without doubt a five star movie, but the four star review reflects this Blu Ray. HD Video: the print used to create this BD was really quite dirty, especially in the last third of the film. There was even a visable base scratch down the centre of frame at one point. HD Audio: basically, the is no HD audio, just a Dolby Digital track that is front heavy. I think its a shame that such a celebrated film shouldnt be offered a major remaster, and perhaps it will. With that in mind I would settle for the DVD special edition and sit tight for the enevitable 20th Anniversary re-release!

 Great conversion to blue ray!!

Was absaloutly breathless at how good this film was on blue ray owned it on dvd but once i got the br version i couldnt stop watching it timeless classic only made better by blue ray for fans its a must!

 Best Gangster Film Ever!!

This is easily the best gangster film ever (joint with Godfather Part 2), the Blu-Ray transfer is one of the best I have seen (and i have over 110 Blu-Rays) and if you owned the DVD version before you will 100% be able to see the difference!

The Blu ray is a Goodfella...

One of the best gangster movies EVER made!! If anything, this is Scorsese's best movie.
The Blu ray transfer is really good along with the sound. The extras are the same as the DVD Edition but still worth getting this on the Blu ray format!!
