Cars 2 (Pixar) (Blu-ray)

What a great film.
One of Pixars best in fact possibly better than the 1st one.
Character are really good with some great stand out moments.
This is a great film that all the family will love!!

It's easy to forget after its tear jerking meditations on mortality and obsolescence that Pixar makes movies for kids.
Cars 2 redresses the balance by rewarding the demographic who made the 2006 original Pixar's most profitable property, at least in terms of merchandise revenue.
Manna for those with a boys toys mindset, the sequel is equal parts petrolhead pedal flooring, Bond esque spy games and goofy slapstick. Yet with its confused plot and perpetual sugar rush visuals, it,s also liable to induce a headache.
The espionage stuff works best. Half the fun of watching a 007 movie comes from the chases, so there's plenty of mileage in setting an action thriller within the existing Cars universe. The opening set piece is exhilarating and Michael Caine a suave choice for the voice of superspy Finn McMissile.
Where the film falters is in the contractual obligation to yoke the original cast into the plot, which leaves Owen Wilson's Lightning McQueen driving around in a circus, and forces Larry the Cable Guy's tow truck Mater into the spotlight to replicate the first film's fish out of water premise.
By Pixar's standards, this is light and disposable. Presented in tandem with a similarly charming but functional Toy Story short 'Hawaiian Holiday,' Cars 2 suggests a studio coasting on its rep while their rivals are raising their game.
By taking the scenic route, the champion of animation risks losing pole position.
What makes Cars 2 such a obvious step backwards for the studio is 2010's outstanding Toy story 3 that showed they were still way ahead of other studio's CGI toons, but with this movie being actually weaker than 2006 Cars and with the likes of Dream Works Kung Fu Panda 2 being an improvemment on the original Cars 2 just seems to be coasting.
But that's an adults perspective and if you are under 10 years old you'll lap up every colourful moment.

the film itself in my opinion is better than the first (austin powers meets james bond, and completely mad as a plot), the story no matter how hard to believe works surprisingly really well with the characters from the first film and brings the new characters slap up straight in quickly, the only thing i would say on the film is it might be hard for young (2-5 year olds) to understand at all, but they will be hypnotised by all the on screen action, as for the blu ray, pixar have yet again uped the anti here in terms of picture and sound (7.1 dts master for starters), the picture is faultless and is yet again pixars best looking blu ray to date (i thought the incredibles would take longer to beat), and is amazing (check out any of the world race scenes, any one of them is top demo quality)as is the sound, used amazingly, from quite back drop noises of glasses in a bar being put down, going all the way around your living room, but very discretely, to the full blown shake your walls down blast of any of the car races or any one of the plenty of explosions that takes place, there is only one slight downside concerning this blu ray, you only get one disc, with a card inside offering you the chance to claim a free dvd of the film (why not just add it, like all other disney blu rays), and there is a serious lack of any extras, but what you do get is 2 short films, which are fantastic, one with mater learning to fly, and another absolute gem from the toy story team, both are worth their wait and do somewhat make up for the lack of any real extras i suppose, but if you are not bothered about extra content (and lets be honest, most of the time you will only ever watch them once), then this will defo keeps all kids quite all the way through, and that 2 hours of peace and quite is worth its weight in gold, and makes this a must buy for any fan or family with young children.... brilliant

This Blu-Ray is quick to load and you can get to watching the film without too many delays. The quality of image and sound-scape are excellent as you would expect from Disney/Pixar. On the downside there is a lack of special features, I was expecting much, much more. Comparing this to the Cars (1) Blu-Ray you will be disappointed.
