Just a quick note: Both of these films are in Blu-ray format. The reason that Play.com don't mention Region encoding is that they don't need to. There are only two Blu-ray regions. This copy of Tron/Tron:Legacy will work on all PS3s/Blu-ray player in Europe or America.

And on another note: This is an excellent set. The original TRON completely captivated me when I was a kid and still does to this day. It was an excellent example of what could be done with the technology of the day, and the sequel is no different. On its own, it's not the *best* film in the world, but you don't take that to heart. Playing both together you can see the vast evolution of 3D technology from the two times, and it displays itself perfectly when you consider the natural evolution of technology actually within the canon of TRON. The story in Legacy is reasonably weak, but I didn't even notice [mainly because of Qorra] but it is definitely worth a watch (after having seen the original).

Brilliant deal and one of the most influential sci-fi/nerd films of the late century. Worth a watch.

This was the last movie I saw in the cinema in December 2010 and it was certainly one of the most exciting movies of the year!! For starters it was certainly the most visually cool looking film by a long shot, fantastic effects that really got you pulled into the whole tron universe and made it believable!! The soundtrack too by Daft Punk was awesome!! A very powerful score that really sits well along side the amazing effects. The story for me was very good too and was really the only way to carry on from the fantastic and classic original movie! The cast was very good Jeff Bridges was on form and did really well resurrecting his character Flynn, and Olivia Wilde is very sexy, This is a MUST buy on Blu-ray for any true fan of the original and anyone else who wants to see something cool and original looking, kids also will certainly get into it, theres plenty of action with the light cycle chases etc. Make sure you dont miss this one....

In 1982, Tron was the most advanced movie of it's time. It took years for other movies of other production companies to replicate the advancement and technology the company used for the film. Tron Legacy is no different. With graphic technology far beyond it's time, even without the 3D feature, it beats any other movie with its plot, as well as its graphics. With it's crystal-clear picture, booming sound and great storyline, it's by far one of the best movies this year. Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, virtual newcomers to big budget productions such as Tron, were able to keep up with mega movie-star Jeff Bridges which is definitely a feat. Jeff Bridges is, without a doubt, legendary, and I love that the storyline wasn't much of a stretch from the first Tron - it actually fit perfectly, and it's great that Flynn's Arcade remained the same from the 1982 film. Spectacular - that's all I can say.

average movie , but effects give ratings higher

as most reviewers on here are talking about the effects , my reviewer is based on the movies itself . granted tron was best of its time in effects ways but the movie was average not a classic movie, classic in effects yes. Tron legacy is not best of its time in this decade dont listen to other reviews on this . as the young jeff bridges has been done before in other movies such the curious case of B.button and avatar is on power with it and even the matrix is on power with it and that was out in 1999 . you can say how great the effects are on both movies for each on its on era but the movies are nothing great , 5 star movies become classics in years to come . tron became a classic due to its effects not for story telling or gripping scenes , tron legacy will not become a classic in either story telling nor effects cause the effects are on power with most films now.

Sometimes movies need to be re-watched to be fully enjoyed as to be honest I had a choice to see Tron Legacy at the cinema in 3D or go and see JLS at Sheffield with my wife and Daughter,
I chose Tron Legacy!
But at the time after watching that movie in 3D I came away very disappointed, as I came away with the impression of style over substance.
Fast forward four month and now both the original film and the long awaited sequel gets released on Blue Ray and it gave me time to catch up on how it all started with the original Tron movie.

Tron 1982.
When this came out it was groundbreaking with its jaw dropping computer generated effects, but the film did not break box-office records as expected.
It was marketed at the kids market and failed to capture the intended audience.
This was probably due to the movie being far ahead of its time, but over the years the film grew a massive cult following and finally was known as a cult classic.
Not seeing the film since its 1982 release what stands out is although the effects have dated, but how close the then fantasy world has started to become a reality.
The plot touches on many aspects that have now become normal day to day living and although plot wise its a jumble of ideas the film still has the retro sense of wonder fully intact.
Also the re-mastered Blue Ray version makes the visuals crisper than ever and the film has never looked so good.
Tron Legacy 2010
As mentioned earlier I was less that impressed by the movie at the cinema, but at home watching it in my own time and on Blue Ray the film can be fully appreciated.
As now I could watch the first film and now this back to back in a kind of one night "Tronathon"
What interested me was that the film does not loose any of the wow factor for not being in 3D.
The updated world of Tron is a visual treat with the deep blacks and the light blue neon. But what the fans were waiting for was the action and the advancement in technology since the first film truly stands out. The light cycle chase is jaw dropping as they speed around the smooth circuit leaving a dazzling light trail behind them using the most of the multi-level environment.
Also the disc fights in a Perspex arena is awesome as the killer discs ricochet of the walls until it makes contact with the other competitor and they shatter into millions of glass like pieces.
Jeff Bridges also is great as he reprises his role, but also the motion capture of the young Jeff Bridges is uncanny and although at times you can tell it's not real due to having a dead eyed look, how it interacts is astonishing.
To add to the spectacle of it all is Daf Punks music that compliments the films brooding visuals with a music score that sound similar to Hans Zimmer's score for The Dark Knight, but works perfectly.
But as we all know a film a film cannot rely on visuals alone it needs a good story.
This is a slight stumbling block for the film, as although the film has many idea's the actual plot only comes to light in the final quarter and it's the usual world domination plan.
Also the pace of the film is a bit off balance as most of the action happens in the first half of the movie leaving the movie to drag until the final quarter showdown.
But faults aside you cannot deny the film is a truly jaw dropping experience leaving the door wide open for more sequels to follow.
The films both have good extras, and although I have given both films four stars this package gets an overal five stars because of value for excellent money.
