A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, Real Steel, stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goya) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

This movie may actually surprise you, its not bad, it may appear like a transformers rip off but its not at all, its still got big robots punching the hell out of each other but in a more rocky kind of way, the movie has a good story a very warm hearted tale of father bonding with son, its a little predictable right from the start but its worth sticking with because it has great fight scenes, great looking effects and robots and by the end its pretty satisfying overall, worth a watch for an exciting family afternoon with the popcorn.

 absolutely brilliant film

This is a very good movie but just does not get there. The robots look great and the fighting good but halfway in the movie the kid starts to get on your nerves. The robot makes it to the big time and after the fight the kid makes a speech and from then on your like will one of them robots please give that kid a smack.Dont let this put you of cause its a good film apart from the kid.I will still buy it on blu-ray

this is a copy cat story of stallones movie over the top and i mean a complete copy.. but instead of arm wrestling its robots fighting robots..
for all of you that are not familar with the story a father and son are reunited after the boys mother dies and a relationship begins between them involving a robot called atom..
the effects and ringside fighting is good and looks very real and i have to say that i did enjoy these momments very much and the soundtrack with eminem also brings the movie alive..
as for the acting all are average at best and have definitley seen hugh jackman on better form i found the boy to be a little annoying at times..the picture has alot to offer from good colouring of the country side to sharp crystal clear close ups of the fighting..
all in all good fun and impressive visuals but wont be remebered as a classic..

 Solid Family Movie

Entertaining, Very Well made, but run of the mill Family Movie
Simple Story, well acted, Nice Father and Son story at the core of all the Stunning Robot fights.
Hugh Jackman is good, the Kid is Determined and gives a very good performance and is not annoying as kids can be in these sort of movies.
Story is a bit like Over the Top meets Short Circuit in Meets WWE. Lol
